Forhetzes to exit KY3 for Convoy

Longtime KY3 Inc. anchors Sara and Ethan Forhetz are exiting the television station to join Springfield-based Convoy of Hope.

The couple yesterday announced the decision on Facebook and on air.

"It really had to be something incredible for us to even consider leaving KY3," said Ethan in a video posted to Facebook.

Convoy of Hope spokesperson Jessica Blake said the Forhetzes are scheduled to start Feb. 1. Blake said Ethan's title is vice president of public engagement. Sara said she would serve as lead reporter and national spokesperson.

The Forhetzes both joined KY3 in 2005, according to their biography pages on the TV station's website. They married in 2007 after meeting at KY3.

A KY3 report indicates the Forhetzes will leave the organization on Jan. 18. Their exits will mean positions will open up for morning anchors during the week and on the weekends.

The Forhetzes come to Convoy of Hope as the nonprofit is building a new distribution center in Republic, a 230,000-square-foot project. The faith-based nonprofit's services include the distribution of food and supplies, as well as disaster response efforts.
