Forging Ahead: Economic Outlook 2010

Posted online
Editor's Note
Welcome to the 2010 Economic Outlook issue. There’s little doubt that for many businesses, 2009 brought the most challenging economic climate of the decade. But where do we go from here? Using data from the Missouri Economic Research Information Center, we’re looking at the region’s Top 5 employment sectors: health care, government, retail, manufacturing and food services, which contributed an average 133,688 jobs in the first and second quarters in Greene County and annual average wages totaling $2.2 billion.

Tapping local industry representatives to explore what lies ahead, one thing is certain: The Ozarks business community isn’t sitting back and waiting for things to happen. Employers are forging ahead, working through the economic heat to position themselves to emerge stronger when the pendulum swings back toward growth.
