Jerry Plaster is the general contractor for this renovation project, and Sam Winn & Associates is the architect. This 15,000-square-foot project, worth an estimated $200,000, increases the Forest Institute's accessibility for persons with disabilities.
It also includes the replacement of an extremely large, decades-old air conditioning unit with more modern heating, ventilation and air conditioning in the front portion of the building.
Inside the clinic, work has been done to re-route the interior traffic flow. The interior of the building is slated for completion in early April, with exterior landscaping, EIFS and signage to follow.
Originally a Mormon church, Forest Institute used the structure as a school. In 1997, when the institute opened its Battlefield Road location, it became a training clinic for doctoral and master's degree students, according to Mark Skrade, PhD, president.
He said this work is really the first phase of plans for the building, with additional infill to come later.
