Forest Institute awarded $1.3M grant

Posted online
Springfield’s Forest Institute of Professional Psychology has been awarded a $1.3 million grant to fund its Healthy Marriage Project and provide relationship education in the region.

The grant will be provided by the U.S. Administration for Children and Families and is renewable for five years.

The Healthy Marriage Project targets high school students, engaged couples or couples interested in marriage, unwed expectant mothers and fathers, married couples and couples at risk for divorce. Child welfare workers, who are partners with the institute, have said there are few relationship education resources to which they might refer these types of clients.

The grant will be distributed to two project areas: The Pregnancy Care Center, which will work with high school students and unwed, expectant mothers; and Ozarks Marriage Matters, which will provide educational services to target referral groups and couples at risk for divorce.[[In-content Ad]]
