Foreign countries lure U.S. retirees

A growing number of developing countries are wooing U.S. seniors with perks ranging from travel and health care discounts to tax breaks.

According to CNNMoney, Panama offers discounts on utility and doctor's bills as well as cheaper mortgages, while Ecuador provides sales tax refunds, half-price bus and plane tickets and front-of-line privileges at places that include the bank and airport customs.

"They really treat senior citizens with a lot of respect," said Susan Schenck, a retired teacher who moved from California to Ecuador four years ago. "I'm 58, and I can't wait until I'm 65."
