Ford's plans should benefit KC-area plant

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) is planning to create 5,000 jobs in the U.S. and launch 23 new vehicles in 2014, and the company’s Kansas City-area Claycomo plant should play a big role in those plans, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.  

Ford, which recently invested $1.1 billion to retool and expand the Claycomo facility, is starting production on the all-new Ford Transit van and ramping up production on its popular F-150 series.  

The Kansas City-area plant, which currently employs around 4,000 workers, is expected to see 1,000 new hires as a result of Ford’s plans.
