Ford is launching technology that will turn older models into Wi-Fi hotspots.
Through FordPass SmartLink, car owners of 2010-17 models will be able to equip their vehicles with the Wi-Fi technology. It also would allow customers to install a remote key fob through a mobile app and look at vehicle health information and location tracking.
Launching in mid-2018, SmartLink will cost $17 a month for 24 months. The device plugs into the on-board diagnostics port located below the steering wheel.
