Ford recalls more than 400,000 vehicles

Posted online
Ford is managing two sets of problems tied to rusting frame parts and faulty seats through a massive recall of nearly 435,000 cars and SUVs.

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) is recalling 386,000 Ford Escpaes – model years 2001-2004, sold in certain markets – because it says the subframes can rust, allowing a control arm to separate and impact steering control. The car manufacturer is aware of one crash but it reports no injuries have been linked to the issue.

The second recall covers 49,000 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and C-MAX vehicles from 2013 and 2014. In those vehicles, seatback frames weren’t welded properly. No crashes or injuries have been reported. Dealers have been instructed to fix the problems.
