Ford, GM get into chip development

Ford and General Motors are looking to face the global computer ship shortage head on, according to media reports.

Ford announced a collaboration with chipmaker GlobalFoundries “to advance semiconductor manufacturing and technology development within the United States.”

GM is working to co-develop new chips with semiconductor partners such as Qualcomm.
