A day after penning a purchase agreement for its rival, Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris ranked 148th on the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans.
Forbes estimates Morris’ net worth at $3.9 billion. His rank is down from No. 145 last year.
Morris is the fourth-wealthiest Missourian, according to the list. He also ranked 96th in the self-made category of the Forbes 400 and 403rd on Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires.
Yesterday, Morris and Bass Pro
announced plans to buy Cabela’s Inc. (NYSE: CAB) for $5.5 billion.
Topping the Show-Me State list is real estate developer and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke. HIs net worth is estimated at $7.4 billion, ranking 58th on the Forbes 400. The other Missourians on the list are Pauline MacMillan Keinath of Cargill Inc., who ranked 77th with a net worth of $6.4 billion, and Ann Walton Kroenke of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., who placed 80th with a net worth of $6.2 billion.
Leading the list again is Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates with a net worth of $81 billion. The remaining top five are:
• Jeff Bezos, Amazon, $67 billion, No. 4 last year;
• Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway, $65.5 billion, No. 2 last year;
• Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook, $55.5 billion, No. 7 last year; and
• Larry Ellison, Oracle, $49.3 billion, No. 3 last year.
The aggregate net worth of the Forbes 400 is $2.4 trillion, with an average of $6 billion per person. Technology billionaires had the largest share of the aggregate net worth, at $591 billion, according to Forbes.
