Dot Transportation Inc., the distribution arm of Mount Sterling, Ill.-based Dot Foods Inc., is planning to expand by adding a satellite office in Strafford.
DTI is working with the Strafford Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry to identify a location, which would be the ninth satellite office for the company, according to a news release.
“Dot Foods and DTI are growing steadily, despite the recession, so expanding the geographic areas we can hire from is a principal strategy to support continued expansion,” DTI President Paul Mugerditchian said in the release. “Strafford is the perfect location because our Mount Sterling drivers will be able to take a shipment of products to the new drop lot and return in one day.
"Our new Strafford drivers will then pick up those shipments and deliver them to Dot Foods’ customers.”
DTI is looking to initially hire 10 drivers for the new office, with the company's recruiters searching in Strafford and the Springfield area. DTI recruiter Dana Chapman added its initial Strafford workforce would need to be self-sufficient with experience in the industry. Experienced DTI drivers make an average salary of $65,000, the release said.
Dot Foods carries 105,000 products from 650 food industry manufacturers, with DTI traveling to customers in all 50 states, according to the company.
