Florida rapper Diamond Blue Smith was charged for allegedly participating in a $17 million scheme to defraud the federal government through the Paycheck Protection Program.
Prosecutors allege Smith falsely obtained more than $1 million in federal stimulus funds. He's accused of using loan proceeds for personal expenses, such as a Ferrari and goods from Versace.
Smith also is accused of fraudulently seeking PPP loans on behalf of others in exchange for kickbacks. At least a dozen others are charged in the scheme that secured at least $17.4 million in PPP funds, according to prosecutors.
