Florida Panhandle now under hurricane warning

As Hurricane Michael moves toward the Gulf of Mexico, the entire Florida Panhandle has put been under a hurricane warning.

The storm became a hurricane on Monday. It was located 390 miles south of Apalachicola, Florida, as of 6 a.m.

“This is a life-threatening situation,” National Hurricane Center officials said in an advisory. “Persons located within these areas should take all necessary actions to protect life and property from rising water and the potential for other dangerous conditions. Promptly follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials.”
