'Flappy Bird' developer promises new game

Posted online
During an impromptu Twitter Q&A with fans of "Flappy Bird," game developer Dong Nguyen said he is working on a new version of the app, Rolling Stone reports.

"It will not be the original game but a better one," he tweeted. "I keep my word."

The news comes a month after Nguyen pulled the hit game from app stores, saying the widespread attention was ruining his simple life. The viral popularity of the game was earning Nguyen, a 28-year-old digital programmer who lived with his parents in Vietnam, an estimated $50,000 a day, but it also brought on claims that he ripped off designs from Nintendo and was the cause of distracted children, as well as unemployed workers.

In an exclusive interview for a March 27 Rolling Stone story, “The Flight of the Birdman,” Nguyen tells all about Flappymania.

Now, there’s no telling when fans can get back to tapping their mobile device screens.

"I don't work by plan," he tweeted in the Q&A. "I will release it when it is done."
