Five wounded in New York Hanukkah stabbings

Posted online

An attacker armed with a knife stabbed five people at a rabbi’s home in New York state on Saturday night.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the attack, carried out during Hanukkah festivities, "an act of domestic terrorism."

The attack occurred at a home in Monsey, which is about 30 miles north of New York City. Two of the victims were in critical condition.

Police arrested the suspect, Grafton Thomas, 38, in Harlem after he escaped the scene. He pleaded not guilty on Sunday morning.

The attack is the latest in a series of recent antisemitic incidents around New York City, including a deadly shooting at a kosher grocery store in New Jersey earlier this month.
