YOUR BUSINESS AUTHORITY
Springfield, MO
Q: What made you decide to join the board at the Rogersville chamber?
A: I just thought that, especially in the position that I’m in here at the bank, it would be good to be more involved in the community. The bank has been a member of the chamber since I’ve been here, and one of my customers – who is president of the board this year – approached me and asked if I’d be interested in doing it, and I decided to go for it.
Q: How does your banking experience prepare you for the board position?
A: In banking, you’re involved with the community anyway with your customers, and I think you’re already trying to make the community better and (help) it grow. So in banking and in chamber business, you’re doing both of those things. I decided to join to be more involved with the community and also build contacts for the bank.
Q: What are the major goals for the chamber this year?
A: It’s funny – I haven’t been to a board meeting yet. I was on jury duty during the board meeting in January, so my first meeting is coming up. The chamber’s focus has always been about the growth of the community, to raise funds and to promote business in the community. Bringing new business into the area has always been its focus, so I’m sure that will continue.
Q: You’ve lived in Rogersville for 16 years – what are the town’s major selling features?
A: I would say one of the major things is the schools. We have a very good school system, and people who want to be a little more rural but still want a good school system (are attracted to) Rogersville. That’s what drew us out here as well – smaller classrooms for the kids and more individual attention. Also, the location is another selling point – you have all the benefits of being close to the facilities that Springfield has to offer, but you’re outside of that rim.
Q: Tell us about your family and your spare-time interests.
A: I’ve got two boys. My oldest, Logan, will be graduating high school. My youngest boy, Lucas, is in fifth grade. I got remarried in October … to Dr. Tom Todd. He’s a dentist in Mountain Grove. We still bounce back and forth between Rogersville and Mountain Grove.
As far as hobbies, my new husband and I would like to travel. We both play golf – actually, I play at it, and he’s pretty good. And there’s family – we’re both very family-oriented.
