Firstar changes its name to U.S. Bank

It's official. Firstar Bank, with a eight Springfield locations, is now known as U.S. Bank the result of a Feb. 27 merger between Firstar Cor-poration and U.S. Bancorp.|ret||ret||tab|

Locations in Branson, Bran-son West, Forsyth and Republic are among the 74 Firstar branches in southwest Missouri that changed to U.S. Bank March 15.|ret||ret||tab|

According to a U.S. Bank release, the new name is essentially the only change resulting from the merger. |ret||ret||tab|

"One of our most valuable assets will not be changing our people," said Regional President of U.S. Bank Chuck Johns. |ret||ret||tab|

"The same team of outstanding financial services professionals who helped customers as Firstar Bankers will now help customers as U.S. Bankers," Johns added.|ret||ret||tab|

The release said new credit, debit, ATM and check cards that match the new signage will be issued, but all card account numbers and personal identification numbers will remain unchanged. |ret||ret||tab|

Customers now have access to 2,147 branch locations and 4,904 ATMs in the Midwest and West.|ret||ret||tab|

The name change will be implemented in all Firstar Bank locations by the end of summer.|ret||ret||tab|
