First sub-Saharan Starbucks to open in South Africa

Sub-Saharan Africa will get its first Starbucks next year, as part of a new deal between the U.S. coffee giant and a South African franchisee.

Starbucks, which operates 22,000 stores worldwide, will launch the branch in Johannesburg in 2016, with more locations to follow, according to the BBC.

Starbucks will reportedly face stiff competition in the African market, where companies have flocked to take advantage of a growing middle class.
