First black, openly gay woman elected Chicago mayor

Lori Lightfoot became the first openly gay person and first black woman to be named mayor of Chicago.

The former federal prosecutor on Tuesday defeated Toni Preckwinkle with nearly 74 percent of the vote.

"Today, you did more than make history," Lightfoot said. "You created a movement for change."
