First 'aroma tweet' sent from Paris to New York

Posted online
On Thursday, a photo message sent from Paris was circulated amongst journalists at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. They agreed: It smelled like chocolate.

Bloomberg Businessweek reports the photo was "played" on an oPhone, which releases smells instead of sounds. It was created by Le Laboratoire in Paris and works with an iPhone app, oSnap.

The oPhone/oSnap duo can create 30,000 scent combinations, currently consisting of mostly food smells, using scent cartridges called oChips. The device is expected to be available next spring.
