Results of a poll released Feb. 25 by Manpower Inc. indicate that respectable employment gains are in store for the Springfield area this spring.
"Of companies responding to the Second Quarter Employment Outlook Survey, 27 percent will recruit more workers during April, May and June," said Sharon Walker, Manpower spokes-person, in a company press release.
She added that 7 percent of respondents expect to cut back, and 66 percent report no anticipated changes.
Three months ago, indications from area employers were ambiguous with 23 percent projecting new hires and 23 percent indicating employment decreases.
For the second quarter, job postings are expected in transportation/public utilities and services. Expectations are mixed in non-durable goods manufacturing and wholesale/retail trade.
