Blacksuits Inc., a local Web design firm, has created a new online directory that lists over 10,000 Springfield businesses, organizations and other facilities.
The site, titled SpringfieldDirect and located at www.springfielddirect.com, covers these categories: Arts and Pho-tography; Computers; Communications and the Internet; Finance, Insurance, Legal; Home and Business; Medical, Health and Personal Care; News, Media and Advertising; Recreation and Culture; Shopping and Personal Services; Auto-motive; Education and Employment; Government and Municipal Services; Industrials; Real Estate, Restaurants and Entertainment; and Travel.
"With the cooperation of area businesses and the community, we are creating the most comprehensive local resource available," said Zack Bone-brake, co-founder of Blacksuits Inc. "SpringfieldDirect is truly built for Springfield, by Springfield."
Bonebrake said that the site provides each of the businesses and organizations listed with its own page to allow in-depth exposure.
Businesses can update pages themselves. The site also can provide businesses with expanded pages.
SpringfieldDirect also encourages individuals to contribute reviews of local businesses for the benefit of other users." The community needs to recognize the outstanding local businesses that consistently provide their customers un-matched service," Bonebrake said.
According to co-founder Damion McDunn, SpringfieldDirect plans to reinforce its community-based emphasis by creating a fund for "technology initiatives," providing nonprofit organizations free brochure pages and is considering creating a Web page for every classroom in Springfield.
