Financial courses target nonfinancial personnel

Two seminars on financial management for nonfinancial managers will be offered in Springfield this fall.

The first, "Financial Management for Small Businesses," a three-part series for nonaccountants and nonfinancial managers, will be presented 6-9 p.m. Sept. 14, 21 and 28 in Glass Hall on the Southwest Missouri State University campus. The seminar is presented by the Small Business Development Center at SMSU.

The series can be taken in its entirety or by individual course, according to information from the SBDC.

"Financial Management for Small Businesses" is offered in three sessions, with each session covering a specific area of financial management.

The series kicks off with "Understanding Financial Statements" Sept. 14, followed by "How to Control Cash Flow" Sept. 21 and "Predicting Future Cash Needs" Sept. 28.

The cost is $65 for each seminar, or $165 for the three-part series.

The second event, "Finance and Accounting for Nonfinancial People," a one-day Fred Pryor seminar, will be offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Quality Inn and Conference Center, 3050 N. Kentwood.

"Finance and Accounting for Nonfinancial People" is a comprehensive, one-day program targeted to managers, supervisors, business owners, professionals and executives from nonfinancial backgrounds, according to event information from Fred Pryor Seminars.

The program begins with a warm-up quiz, followed by sections on the accountant's tool box basic accounting principles and terminology
