Financial consulting, investment firm Ozarks Capital debuts

A group of Springfield businesspeople have launched a new firm that focuses on private capital investment, mergers and acquisitions advisement, and financial consulting.

Jan. 1 was the official launch date for Ozarks Capital, said partner and President Kody Redwing. His partners in the venture are Doug Russell, John Russell, Jason Russell and Jordan Russell.

"Whether you're selling a business or exit planning, whether that's for six months from now or six years from now, or you're growing a business, we work with you to make sure your decision and your strategy matches your needs," Redwing said. "I saw an opportunity, frankly, for a more personalized and financially diligent approach to financial services."

Redwing, who recently announced the launch of Ozarks Capital on LinkedIn, said the company intends to conduct business acquisitions through its private capital arm and that its services include financial planning and analysis, debt advisement, cash flow and capital management, and growth advisory.

"We're looking for sellers that care about the legacy that they've built and don't want to sell to a traditional private equity firm that would flip it. Our goal is to acquire them and hold them for decades," Redwing said. "We fit best with a growing company that needs financial assistance."

Redwing said the private investment side of Ozarks Capital conducts business on a deal-by-deal basis, which could include acquisitions involving bank financing or investors. A capital fund has not been created, he noted.

Ozarks Capital has some potential acquisitions "on the radar," Redwing said, declining to disclose the businesses due to nondisclosure agreements.

"We have traction on all three of our service lines," he said.

Redwing most recently served as president of Springfield-based The Vecino Group LLC, and his background includes banking experience. He said he has gotten to know the Russell family over the last decade.

"They bring a ton of valuable business experience, and they're super sharp people," Redwing said. "I could not have done this without them."

Redwing runs the day-to-day operations of Ozarks Capital, as the Russell family of partners have other full-time interests, he said. Doug Russell is involved with ownership of companies such as L&W Industries LLC, and the Ozarks Capital website notes the other Russell partners work at Pillar Insurance in Springfield. Additionally, John Russell is a member of the Greene County Commission.

Ozarks Capital’s website lists an office at 1615 S. Ingram Mill Road, Ste. B. Redwing said hours are by appointment.
