A great place to work is one where atmosphere, pay, benefits and bonuses, and teambuilding aren’t taken lightly but are well thought out in order to hire and retain the best employees.
At JobFinders, the mission is to cultivate a nurturing, family like atmosphere with a focus on mentoring applicants and employees of all backgrounds to make sure every person who works with JobFinders has the tools they need to succeed.
“I feel like that spans the company, from our internal employees to our trial-to-hire employees to our professional recruitment,” says Chief Operations Officer Chris Baker. “It’s important to us to make people successful,” says Baker. “We screen people in instead of out, and I think that’s another secret to our success. We want to get people working and keep them working.” She follows this up with, “We do know each and every person that works with us. We build that relationship with every employee. They are our colleagues.”
JobFinders continually leads the way by practicing what they preach. To demonstrate their commitment to a family friendly workplace, internal staff is allowed to bring a sick child to the office if the need arises. Staff also receive benefits including 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, and paid vacation time. Hands on and computerized trainings, seminars, and tuition assistance are also available. Internal employees become eligible for benefits on their first day of employment. Temporary and trial-to-hire staff have a waiting period but are eligible for medical and dental insurance, 401k benefits plus bonuses, on-site parties, and special pizza and donut days.
JobFinders’ unique trial-to-hire program gives employers and employees the opportunity to work together to create synergy on the job, for both parties. The goal is to create a good fit for one another because if it’s not a win-win, it’s a loss. JobFinders’ temporary staffing program and direct hire placement services assists businesses that may not have the time to search for employees who can fill the gaps their company may have internally.
During trial-to-hire, JobFinders and the client work together with the employee to ensure the employee is properly trained, is in the right spot and becomes an integral part of the team. “It’s basically a 90 to 120 day job interview for both the employee and the client,” says President and owner Anne Williams.
Out of 650 JobFinders employees, approximately 85% are trial-to-hire staff.
With a large proportion made up of the trial-to-hire staff, JobFinders provides on site advisors for many of their client companies, especially larger ones with 45 or more temporary or trial-to-hire employees. These advisors advocate and assist employees and the clients when and if issues arise during job assignments. “We’re there when they need us,” says Williams.
Attention to community, along with a concerted effort to give back in a meaningful way is another characteristic of a great place to work.
JobFinders strives to partner with organizations in each community they serve. The Springfield branch partners with Eden Village and Springfield Dream Center where they have held mock interviews, job fairs, assisted people in résumé writing, and offered coaching and mentoring.
“This not only helps Eden Village residents, but also the surrounding communities and employers looking for employees,” says Baker.
“We like to be part of the community,” says Williams. “We’re not just looking for a surface fix to the unemployment problems. We’re looking for long term solutions in the communities we serve.”
“Mentoring and advising our employees is so important. We check in with them. We want them to be able to pick up the phone and call us if they have a problem. I think those kinds of things are really important and what sets us apart,” says Williams.
JobFinders has been chosen for the Inc. 5000 list of the most successful and fastest growing, privately held companies in America for the past six years. “That’s an honor with our being in such a fast-paced, ever-changing environment,” says Williams. “The company is steadily growing.”
