Fewer buyers paying cash for homes

Real estate market tracker CoreLogic reports 33.8 percent of U.S. home buyers paid cash in August, down from 36.4 percent a year earlier.

Year-over-year cash sale percentages have fallen each month since January 2013, CoreLogic said. Prior to the housing crisis, cash sales averaged 25 percent. A peak occurred in January 2011 at 46.3 percent, according to a news release.

In Missouri, 39 percent of home buyers paid cash in August.

During the month, Missouri real estate agents sold 6,483 homes at an average prices of $178,631, according to the Missouri Association of Realtors.[[In-content Ad]]
