Ferguson pregnancy care center wins $1M grant

Posted online

Ferguson pregnancy care center Jamaa Birth Village was awarded a $1 million grant from the Merck For Mothers Safer Childbirth Cities initiative.

The midwife-led center plans to use the funds to train 360 doulas. The goal is to reduce Missouri’s high maternal mortality rates, especially among Black women, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“Our mission remains as critical as ever to help ensure every woman, regardless of their background or location, has equal access to quality maternal health care and services,” said Mary-Ann Etiebet, executive director of Merck for Mothers.
