Ferguson October civil disobedience event concludes today

Posted online
A weekend of activism in St. Louis included a downtown march, a hip hop concert, church services and late-night civil disobedience that led to more than a dozen arrests, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The nonviolent demonstators continue to protest the recent shooting deaths of Michael Brown and Vonderrit Myers, both 18 years old, in St. Louis and suburban Ferguson. There were no reports of injuries or property damage during the peaceful marches, but police officers early Sunday arrested 17 people for unlawful assembly in the parking lot at a QuikTrip gas station in the Shaw neighborhood where Myers was killed last week.

The events drew visitors from as far away as Uganda and others from Florida and New York.
