Female CEOs at record level in 2016

While female CEOs are at a record level in 2016, their numbers are still comparatively low.

As of this year, there are 27 women leading S&P 500 companies. That's a 22 percent jump from last year.

However, women lead only 5.4 percent of America's largest publicly traded companies.
