The Federal Emergency Management Agency won't cover demolition for the majority of tornado-damaged properties in St. Louis, according to a letter obtained by St. Louis Public Radio.
Ineligible properties include vacant buildings condemned before the May tornado and properties where the owner also owns other properties.
St. Louis Chief Recovery Officer Julian Nicks told St. Louis Public Radio that roughly 20% of damaged properties are eligible under the guidelines set by FEMA.
