Feds investigate local real estate firm

Posted online
The South Glenstone Avenue office of a Springfield-based real estate company was raided earlier this week as part of a joint federal investigation, an Internal Revenue Service spokeswoman said.

At about 10 a.m. Tuesday, officers from the IRS, U.S. Secret Service, Missouri Highway Patrol, Missouri Water Patrol and Springfield Police Department executed a federal search warrant at the office of Charles Walker Realty, 3662 S. Glenstone Ave., said Special Agent Bonnie MacLeod with the IRS Criminal Investigations Division.

Over a period of about seven hours, authorities seized computers and numerous documents, MacLeod said.

The business has been under investigation for at least six months, she added.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in connection with the investigation.
