The nonprofit Metropolitan St. Louis Equal Housing and Opportunity Council is facing a probe into whether it misspent federal funds, a source familiar with the matter told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The probe reportedly is focusing on whether the nonprofit misused funds by mixing money with another business run by the director’s wife, who also worked for the housing council.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in October suspended around $650,000 in grants to the nonprofit, according to the report.
