City and business leaders turn the dirt Sept. 18 for FedEx Freight’s new 154-door, 100,000-square-foot service center on 54 acres near Partnership Industrial Center West. Barring weather delays, officials say the company’s 200 employees should be able to move from the existing 2229 N. Lurvey Ave. location to the new $10 million distribution facility in the spring. FedEx officials say it will boost its local loading capacity by about 60 percent.
