Federal Reserve raises key interest rate

The Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate yesterday for the third time this year.

With the latest change, the target federal funds rate was boosted to a range of 1.25 to 1.5 percent.

It's the fifth rate increase during Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's tenure. She's scheduled to step down in January, and be succeeded by Jerome Powell.
