Federal lawmakers press IRS on unprocessed tax returns

Republicans members of the House Ways and Means Committee penned a letter to the IRS this week regarding millions of unprocessed 2019 tax returns.

The lawmakers are seeking clarity on how the IRS plans to work through the backlog.

More than 11 million individuals and businesses are still waiting for their tax returns that they should have received in 2020, according to Fox Business. Officials have said the COVID-19 pandemic is responsible, in part, for the backlog.
