U.S. District Court Judge Terrence Berg was shot last week outside of his home in west Detroit.
Local news affiliate WXYZ-TV said Berg was confronted by two people who said they wanted to enter his residence. Berg resisted and in the resulting struggle was shot in the leg. His assailants fled the scene.
City authorities said that Berg, the U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of Michigan, did not sustain life-threatening injuries. According to the Washington Post, no connection has yet been made between the shooting and Berg’s federal occupation.
