Federal employees owe $3.3B in back taxes

Federal employees owe a total of $3.3 billion in back taxes to the federal government, according to Internal Revenue Service data released Thursday.

According to USA Today, 318,462 federal employees owed back taxes as of Sept. 30, an increase of 2.6 percent from the same time a year earlier.

However, federal workers' delinquency rate of 3.19 percent is far lower than that of the population at large at 8.7 percent.
