Federal disaster aid for spring tops $21.3M in Missouri

Federal disaster assistance for Missourians affected by severe storms and flooding topped $21.3 million in the spring, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

More than $13 million was awarded in individual assistance to about 6,245 households, and another $8.3 million was granted in public assistance to help state and local governments and nonprofit agencies, according to a FEMA news release.

In addition, the U.S. Small Business Administration approved $3.6 million in low-interest business loans and more than $9.6 million in low-interest loans to homeowners, renters and businesses.

FEMA estimates 2,690 individuals visited the 13 disaster recovery centers in the wake of severe flooding.
