FDIC reaches $190M settlement with 8 companies

Eight financial firms agreed to pay a total settlement of $190 million to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

The funds would settle claims of misleading residential mortgage-backed securities that helped lead to the failure of five banks in 2008 and 2009.

The companies are Barclays Capital Inc.; BNP Paribas Securities Corp., Credit Suisse Securities LLC; Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.; Edward D. Jones & Co.; Goldman Sachs & Co.; RBS Securities Inc.; and UBS Securities LLC.
