Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb pleged to take action against some forms of tobacco use.
"I will not allow a generation of children to become addicted to nicotine through e-cigarettes," he said in a statement.
The FDA intends to move to ban menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars, as well as tighten rules on the sale of most flavored versions of electronic cigarettes.
