FDA bans some vaping products

Posted online

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is giving manufacturers and retailers 30 days to stop making and selling cartridge-based vaping devices.

The ban is targeted at flavors such as mint, fruit and dessert that may appeal to minors. It does not include menthol or tobacco flavors.

The rule applies to vaping products with pre-filled cartridges, as they are "both easy to use and easily concealable," said FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn.

Open systems, aka vape pens, require users to manufally fill them with liquid. They'll still be allowed.
