The FBI is cautioning financial institutions that they could be subject to a hacking attempt.
The threat was reported Sunday by Krebs On Security's Brian Krebs, who said the scheme is called an "ATM cash-out."
That means hackers attempt to infiltrate a bank or payment card processor to steal information used to withdraw money from ATMs.
