The FBI arrested the leader of the United Constitutional Patriots on Saturday.
Larry Hopkins, 69, aka Johnny Horton, was arrested in New Mexico on a federal charge of a felon possessing firearms and ammunition.
The arrest came two days afte the American Civil Liberties Union accused the UCP of illegally detaining migrants. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham ordered an investigation.
UCP members dress in camouflage and carry rifles. The group claims to have helped detain over 5,600 migrants during the past two months.
