Fawn Warner

Fawn Warner is able to juggle a variety of responsibilities at once, making her the perfect person to do her job.

Warner is education director at Discovery Center of Springfield Inc., and she said she loves the position because every day is different.

Warner supervises five full-time educators and the exhibits coordinator, oversees the technology needs for the center, writes and edits various grants, and promotes the organization and its programs at various conferences and expositions.

“I am able to take part in many amazing things, ranging from experiencing the first moment of wonder and curiosity of each child that walks through the Discovery Center’s doors, to learning about the construction and technology behind solar panel arrays, to speaking to middle school and high school girls about exploring careers in science and technology,” Warner said.

Warner said that although her career is demanding, she is proud to have accomplished a balance between her professional and personal lives.

“I work hard to strike a balance between my work responsibilities, spending time with my family, and staying in good physical shape by eating well and participating in triathlons,” she said.

She said she receives much support from her husband, Dr. Craig Rechkemmer, who is, in her words, “one of the only people in the world who understands how my brain works.”

Warner has been a member of the BodyMechanix training group – though she’s temporarily retired because of her pregnancy.

She’s a member of the Ozarks Multisport Club, for which she designed the Web site and volunteers.

Her other volunteer work includes being a blood donor at Community Blood Center, the All-Star Sertoma Grin Iron Classic and the Springfield-Greene County Interpreters Coalition.
