Fauci calls data from drug trial 'good news'

Anthony Fauci, the U.S. government’s top infectious disease expert, called the early results of a clinical trial "quite good news."

He was referring to a potential COVID-19 drug made by biotechnology company Gilead Sciences Inc. Called remdesivir, the experimental drug may help patients recover from the virus more quickly than with standard care.

The results were “highly significant if you look at the time to recovery,” Fauci said.
