The father and former manager of the Jonas Brothers has been named an honorary chairman of Springfield-based nonprofit Convoy of Hope.
Kevin Jonas Sr., a co-founder and partner of the Jonas Group Inc., managed pop group the Jonas Brothers - made up of three of his sons - until the act broke up in 2013. The family has supported Convoy of Hope since the organization participated in disaster relief efforts following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, according to a news release.
“My goal is to use my experience to build bridges for Convoy of Hope, raise additional support and increase awareness for the work they do around the world," the elder Jonas said in the release.
Prior to founding management company the Jonas Group Inc., Jonas was a singer/songwriter and a consultant to several record companies. He lives in Dallas.
Founded in 1994, Convoy of Hope distributes food and other products and sends volunteers to areas hit by natural disasters or areas in economic decline. The organization has served some 65 million people during the past 20 years, according to the release.
