Fast Facts: CVB Reports Flat 2010

Posted online
Ever-so-slight increases in Springfield hotel room sales, occupancy rate and revenue per available room in 2010 did not translate into upticks in passengers at Springfield-Branson National Airport, according to year-end statistics released by the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Airport passengers spiked in July (84,152) and June (81,138), but that couldn’t offset May, during which total passengers plummeted by 13,887 compared to the same month in 2009.

Hotel room sales in 2010 reached $72.58 million, up from $72.53 million in 2009.

Personal traffic to the CVB tourist information centers also dropped in 2010, apparently replaced by visits to www.springfieldmo.org, the CVB’s Web site.

Each of the three CVB tourist information centers reported drops in traffic during 2010, but more than a half-million Web site unique visits were recorded.
