Fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead at her Manhattan home on Tuesday. She was 55.
Spade is believed to have died of suicide. A staff member found her hanged from a red scarf on a bedroom door at her home.
A Kansas City native, Spade founded Kate Spade New York, which has more than 140 retail shops and outlet stores countrywide. She sold the business to Neiman Marcus Group in 2006, and a few years ago, started a new handbag company called Frances Valentine.
