Farmplicity first St. Louis startup to sell this year

Posted online
The sale of Farmplicity represents the first exit of a St. Louis startup this year.

Sunfarm Food Service bought the firm, which connects restaurants and local food growers through a Web platform, for undisclosed terms, according to the St. Louis Business Journal. In the deal, Farmplicity will keep its name and brand, operating under the umbrella of Sunfarm.

Farmplicity was founded by entrepreneur students at Washington University, specifically birthed out of the school’s hatchery course. Co-founder Jolijt Tamanaha told the business journal a need for capital brought about the sale.
