Farmers market to launch in downtown Springfield

Posted online

A new farmers market is coming to downtown Springfield.

Farmers Market of the Ozarks is partnering with the Downtown Springfield Association on the initiative, according to a news release. The market at Park Central Square is scheduled to start June 15 and be held on Saturdays through the end of October.

“It will offer the hundreds of loft residents and the surrounding neighborhoods more options for healthy food choices within walking and biking distance of their homes," said Rusty Worley, DSA executive director, in the release.

The market would include locally raised meat and dairy products, produce and hand-crafted items, as well as live music at the gazebo stage.

The downtown farmers market is the third for Farmers Market of the Ozarks, which started at Farmers Park in 2013 and expanded to Branson Landing in 2015, according to the release.

Worley said via email that the intent of the downtown farmers market is to be an ongoing partnership with Farmers Market of the Ozarks.

“We will learn from this year and modify it based on input from our customers, vendors and stakeholders,” he said.
